The end of notebook chargers in the European Union?

Buying a new notebook? Get ready for the fact that there will probably no longer be a charger in the package. The European Union has long been working to reduce e-waste and, after standardising connectors to USB-C, this is the next step.

One powerful charger for everything

Has it occurred to you that you could take the one from your phone and use it for your notebook too? That will not help. Its power will be around 18–30 W, which is not enough. For a standard notebook, you need at least 65 W

If you do not have one, it is worth investing in it. A powerful charger can also handle mobile phones, tablets and other electronics with a USB-C connector. This means you can get by with just one.

A charger that can handle a notebook too

A great choice is GaN chargers, which are made from Gallium Nitride. Thanks to this, they are more powerful, lighter and half the size of standard models. That makes them perfect for travel too.

We recommend, for example, AXAGON ACU-PQ67 or ACU-PQ67D with power of up to 67 W. The adapters support fast charging using Power Delivery and Quick Charge technologies and make it possible to power two devices simultaneously.

AXAGON ACU-DPQ65 or ACU-DPQ65W with power of up to 65 W and three outputs are also an excellent choice. Of course, they also support Power Delivery and Quick Charge technologies.

In addition, all the above-mentioned models detect the connected device and adjust the charging speed and process accordingly so as not to damage it.

Maximise performance with the right cable

Do you have a powerful adapter? Excellent. Now you also need a USB cable that can handle that power. Choose one of our USB4 cables (e.g. AXAGON BUCM4X-CM10AB or BUCM4X-CM05AB) or USB 10/20 Gbps cables (e.g. AXAGON BUCM32-CM20AB or BUCM32-CM15AB or BUCM32-CM10AB).

In addition to charging, they can handle data, video and audio transmission. They can also connect devices to a monitor, docking station or external SSD drive.

We offer several lengths, so even the distance from the power socket is not an obstacle.

What is the difference between the cables?

USB4 transfers data at speeds of up to 40 Gbps and video up to 8K/60Hz. It supports Quick Charge 4+ and the latest Power Delivery 3.1 standard. It is also compatible with Thunderbolt.

USB 10/20 Gbps is USB version 3.2 Gen 2x2. It transfers data at speeds of up to 20 Gbps and video up to 4K/60Hz. It supports Quick Charge 4+ and Power Delivery 3.0.
